Kids’ Day at the Market - This Friday, September 9
Top off the week with a fun-filled visit to the farmers market. Kids of all ages are invited to decorate a squash, add wheels, and race another zippy zuke down the “Zucchini 500” ramp. Althea the Face Painter will be back, offering fabulous decorations for modest donations. The Truck Farm will also return afer 5 pm, showing off their amazing mini-farm growing in the back of a pick-up truck. Join neighborhood favorite Gary Paine for a sing-along at 3:30, then stick around to share songs in French and Spanish with the Polly-Glots from 5-6:30. You don’t want to miss it!

Family Fun at the Farmers Market

Hello to fans of the Phinney Farmers Market! It's raining today, but tomorrow the sun may shine again - keep your fingers crossed! Even if it's damp, chances are good there will be sweet berries and cherries and we know there will be plenty of other good food and treats to choose among.

Kids of all ages are invited to join neighborhood favorite, Gary Paine, for a sing-a-long set under the canopy from about 4-6 tomorrow afternoon. Make a request for "You are my Sunshine" and chase the rain clouds away!

When it's too wet out to enjoy bike riding and sidewalk chalk, click this link for a great coloring and activity book about farm fresh food from Washington State.

Hope to see you at the market tomorrow and every Friday!

Summer Arts for the Family

During those dog days of summer, families can escape to the Taproot theater to view child actors present plays as part of their summer camp experience. In addition to escaping the heat, children will be able to observe other kids just like themselves up on stage putting on a show. How inspiring! The summer line up at Taproot includes productions such as Disney’s High School Musical, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The King and I, Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors and more. Performances take place on Friday afternoons July 6, July 17, July 31, August 7 August 28, at two locations: the Taproot Theater and Ballard Church 1460 NW 73rd. All performances start at 3:00 with doors opening 15 minutes prior. Donations will be taken at the door for the camp scholarship fund. For more information check out their website.
