August 19 is the Phinney Phruit Phestival, celebrating the amazing boundy of local summer fruits from both Western and Eastern Washington! Berries, cherries, peaches and other sweet, ripe treats are some of the many reasons we love LOCAL farms.
Shoppers can taste and compare different varieties, watch a cooking demo featuring fruit pizzas (kids love 'em!), and learn about fruit cultivation from a local orchardist. A canning and preserving demo will show you how to make the most of summer's abundance. Giveaways include lots of unique recipes and FREE canning supplies for market shoppers (while they last), courtesy of the Ball Canning Company.
Alethea the Face Painter will be on hand to provide phruity phase embellishments for kids of all ages (donations welcome).
Learn about City Fruit's urban fruit harvest to benefit local non-profits. Do you have fruit to donate? Want to volunteer as a picker?
Stop by the PNA booth or main reception desk and pick up a colorful, sturdy canvas shopping bag for $15 (they're going fast) or take home a happy yellow farmers market t-shirt for only $10.
